So, we’d gone to Barcelona to celebrate my birthday. Of course, on my birthday I wanted to do something fun and really cool. We decided to check out a rooftop bar that my friend had recommended to me. She told me that it had some of the best views in Barcelona. So in the late afternoon we headed to Ayre Hotel Rosellón.
Hotel Rosellón
Hotel Rosellón is located in the heart of the Eixample quarter, pretty much right around the corner from Sagrada Família. It’s proximity to the church and lots of other great restaurants made it an easy stop for some afternoon sun and sangria. We walked into the large, open, modern lobby and were immediately greeted by friendly staff who directed us to the elevators and up to the terrace.
Rooftop Bar
Open between 11am and 7pm for the general public, as soon as I stepped out of the elevator I could see why my friend recommended this place. Comfortable lounge chairs, large patio umbrellas and cushioned benches dot the wooden terrace to give you uninterrupted views of Sagrada Família. Their bar is small but offers beer, wine, highballs, cocktails and, of course, sangria. Around sunset it starts to get busy so expect a queue at the bar. If you want to ensure you get a seat get there early. By the evening people were beginning to circle the place looking for seats. The views at night are beautiful but I’d definitely recommend heading there to soak up the last couple hours of sun then watch it set over the beautiful city of Barcelona.
This is my last post about my weekend trip to Barcelona. If you want to read more about Sagrada Família you can find that here. And if you want to read more about the food and drinks you can find that here.
I’ve been busy doing lots of writing and editing photos during the lockdown; so, if you want to stay up to date you can follow along on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I’ll be back next week to talk about being in Dublin when they cancelled Saint Patricks Day.
See you next week!
